LET’S START FROM 549

The first mention of Albugnano wines dates back to 1148. The history of these wines, of the Abbey of Vezzolano, and of the Savoy aristocracy have intertwined like tendrils over the centuries. In 1868, Albugnano’s Nebbiolo sparkling wine won an award at the Asti Exposition. But it was with the DOC recognition, in the Official Gazette of May 17, 1997, that Albugnano began a new phase of growth.

In 2017, several local producers founded the ALBUGNANO 549 Association to support the winemaking, historical, cultural, environmental, and socioeconomic identity of the Albugnano DOC production area. From Albugnano’s 549-meter elevation, you can see the hills of the Monferrato Astigiano area and, in the distance, the Basilica of Superga and part of the western Alpine range. We like to imagine an exciting future awaits us.

ALBUGNANO DOC

Albugnano DOC, as interpreted by the Association’s winemakers, is a pure Nebbiolo aged in wood for a minimum of 18 months and in bottle for at least 6 months. It is a wine that aspires to the excellence of great Piedmontese wines, targeting new promotional and commercial opportunities, both in Italy and internationally.
The limited production of Albugnano currently covers an area of ​​approximately 44 hectares of land.
